A meniscus lens is a concave-convex lens. This lens features one convex surface and one concave surface. Meniscus lenses can be either positive or negative. A negative meniscus lens is thinner at the center than at the edges, while a positive meniscus lens is thicker at the center than at the edges. Meniscus lenses can correct aberrations and are commonly used as corrective lenses. They can also serve as condensers in illumination systems and, with the appropriate thickness, can help eliminate chromatic aberration.
